USA Torch Relay Team Members
A COMMENDATION By the Governor of the State of Georgia Whereas: Jacqueline Branch-Pobanz and Bruce Pobanz of Kingsland, Georgia, have been selected to represent the Southeast Coastal Georgia region in the Olympic Torch Relay and will pass and receive the torch on December 7, 2001, as it travels from Jacksonville, Florida, to St. Augustine, Florida; and Whereas: Bruce and Jacqueline, whose community volunteerism led to this distinction, were the only married couple chosen for this honor from the State of Georgia under the new "Inspirational Pairs" classification for the 2002 Olympic Torch Relay; and Whereas: The Olympic Torch Relay will begin in Atlanta on December 4, 2001, and it will pass through 46 states over a span of 65 days, ending with the lighting of the Olympic Flame on February 18, 2002, during the opening ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah; now Therefore: I, Roy E. Barnes, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby commend Jacqueline Branch-Pobanz and Bruce Pobanz For bringing honor to our State through their inspiration to one another and to others in their daily lives.
